What We Did

Brand Identity, Website Build & Solar Calculators

The Big Result

A new renewables business that launches with the trust of an established electrical firm behind it.

01 The Starting Point

Hackwood Electrical is a Stourbridge electrical contractor with more than 114 five-star reviews, almost all of it built on word of mouth. Aidan and Tom were already wiring in solar panels, home batteries and EV chargers, so they decided to launch a second business to do it properly: Hackwood Renewables. It needed a name, a look and a website — all from scratch.

02 The Real Problem

A brand-new renewables company has no reviews, no track record and no Google presence — in a market full of pushy national sales teams.

Homeowners in the West Midlands are used to being sold to, then handed off to a subcontractor they've never met. Hackwood's real advantage was that they are electricians first: the same qualified people survey the house, check the fuse board and fit the system. The new website had to make that obvious, carry the trust the electrical business had already earned, and bring in at least one good-quality enquiry a week.

03 Strategy

Applying The Copper Method

01

01. The Honest Health Check (Audit)

We started with the electrical business's existing website. It scored 81 out of 100 overall and did a good job of building trust, but it scored just 39 out of 100 for speed on a phone. We also looked hard at the renewables market in the West Midlands, and the pattern was clear: aggressive sales teams, big promises and installers the customer never meets. Hackwood's honesty and in-house electricians were the thing nobody else could copy.

02

02. The Strategic Blueprint (Plan)

We designed a new identity so Hackwood Renewables could stand on its own while still clearly belonging to Hackwood Electrical. Then we mapped the website around the four things they fit — solar panels, home batteries, EV chargers and business and farm solar — with a page for each of the eight towns they cover most. Every page leads to one of two places: a quick estimate or a free quote.

03

03. The Build (Build)

We built the site from scratch, with no templates, so it loads quickly on a phone. The homepage has a 30-second savings calculator that turns a monthly bill into a rough yearly saving. For people who want more, a roof calculator measures their actual roof from Google's aerial survey data, works out how many panels it will take and prices the system Hackwood would really fit. Every answer is written in plain English by an electrician, not a salesman.

04

04. The Growth Partnership (Grow)

Google Analytics and Search Console are set up from day one, so we can see which towns and services are bringing in enquiries. The site is on our monthly care plan, which covers hosting, security, updates and content changes. Next comes a learning hub of articles and videos, answering the questions Aidan and Tom already get asked on every job.

04 Outcome

A new business that doesn't look new

Hackwood Renewables launches with its own identity, a fast website and two calculators that give homeowners real numbers before they ever pick up the phone. When they do get in touch, they already know roughly what their roof can take and what it might save them. And because we look after the site on a monthly care plan, Aidan and Tom can stay on the tools while we keep it fast, secure and up to date.
